Grantmaking Focus

The Foundation’s social investment strategy is focused on three core values and beliefs:

Focus on results: All programs supported by the Bravo Youth Foundation are monitored and evaluated with measure. The Foundation utilizes performance indicators that show to which extent program interventions are being effective.

Focus on sustainability: All programs supported by the Bravo Youth Foundation present replication and scaling-up potential in the future (attending more young people in other communities). To that end, Bravo’s grantees are encouraged to share best practices and participate in networking activities with other NGOs. The Foundation supports knowledge-sharing and cooperation activities. It creates opportunities for seminars, educational events and information exchange among entities working in the educational arena in the Brazilian Sertão.

Focus on effective management: The Foundation invests in capacity-building through technical assistance activities that ensure invested resources are managed so that grantees are able to improve their programs in the long run.

Bravo seeks to promote an environment in which young people have access to positive program models that foster leadership, entrepreneurship and citizenship.

Bravo Institutional Grants are geographically restricted to programs located in the Brazilian Sertão.

Bravo offers Donor Services to individuals and corporations wishing to recommend a grant for an educational program or project serving children and youth anywhere in Brazil.

Bravo gives priority to small and medium size organizations located in remote cities and communities with difficult access to other sources of support.
