Over 300 children and youth benefited from recreational programs funded by the Bravo Youth Foundation. Support from Bravo was used to pay for the remodeling of the community center’s building including electricity and water, program supplies, furniture and transportation and meals to volunteer program instructors. Volunteer instructors travel three hours from the city of Salvador to lend their time and talent. The Bravo Children Association is a registered Brazilian nonprofit run by local volunteers.

Funds from the Bravo Youth Foundation were invested in the following programs:

  • Capoeira Class
    Number of students enrolled: 80
    Ages: 9-22

  • Video Production Class
    Number of students enrolled: 80
    Ages: 7-18

  • Arts and Crafts Class
    Number of students enrolled: 117
    Ages: 12 and up

ACB is located in the municipality of Serra Preta, Bahia in a region called Bravo. The community of Bravo has a population of six thousand inhabitants and has high levels of juvenile prostitution, drug use among young people and domestic violence. With the support from its strategic partner in Brazil, Rummos, the Foundation will monitor and evaluate the results of this program as it responds to this difficult reality.
